My main guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Studio Fireburst. It is currently in a standard tuning (most of my guitars aren’t). I picked the studio model of the Les Paul as I found that it had a warmer sound over all. I’m also not a big fan of the filigree that gets put around a standard Les Paul.
This was the 3rd or 4th model I tried in the shop. It had the nicest balance of highs, mids and lows. Most of the others sounded stronger in one range over another. This is fine if you have a single purpose for your instrument, but considering the vastly different styles I play in I thought it would be limiting.
After owning and playing this guitar almost everyday for a couple of years I am still amazed at its responsiveness, sustain and tone. If you are looking for a good all round workhorse, this is a great buy.
This guitar is strung with Ernie Ball 2215 Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom Electric String Set (10-52) (Amazon Link).
Its studio name is Amber.
